Cat Hops Onto Lap of Girl in Wheelchair and Chooses Her to Be His Family

A white cat with blue eyes peeks through leaves, while a person in a wheelchair pets it, both smiling.

As the name implies, Cat Man Chris loves cats. So much, in fact, that he has his own colony of feral cats that he feeds routinely. However, one day he noticed a new face in the crowd.

A white cat stands on a paved surface, looking alert and slightly to the side.

This new cat was white, matted, and always hungry. Chris fed him every time he showed up, observing his behavior through their interactions. Very quickly, Chris determined that this cat was owned previously.

However, this cat definitely didn't have a home now. Chris guessed that his previous owner had abandoned him when they'd moved out of some nearby apartments. Not wanting to leave the kitty to fend for himself, Chris hatched a plan.

It took a bit of time, but Chris gradually got the cat to trust him more and more with toys and catnip. Eventually, he introduced a cat cage and started putting the nip near the cage (to get the cat comfortable with it).

When the day for capture finally came, Chris put the catnip inside the cage. Once the cat wandered in, he shut the door. Understandably, the cat was less than thrilled.

Fortunately, he didn't have to stay there for long. Chris took the cat to a nearby vet, who checked him for a microchip. Once it was revealed that the cat didn't have a microchip, Chris started considering re-homing options.

Things worked out perfectly! A girl named Kiley had always wanted a cat, but most of the cats were scared away by her electric wheelchair. However, this once-stray cat was not, so Kiley adopted him!

Now known as "Richie, the cat spends his days close to Kiley's side. He'll never have to forage for food again, and Kiley gets a "purrfect companion" all day long. Whether by luck or fate, these two are now the perfect pair: so cute!
