Check out how The Golden Girls handle bad neighbors

The Golden Girls had many people coming and going in their lives. The foursome of Dorothy, Blanche, Rose, and Sophia always met new people. Whether it was a date, hookup, or friendship, there was no shortage of people in their lives.

Some of their greatest rivals happened to be right next door. In this compilation video, the foursome’s worst neighbors are recounted.

The first neighbors are the Bartons. The girls clash with Mr. Barton over a palm tree that came down during a storm. Mr. Barton argues that it’s not his tree that fell on the girls’ property.

Dorothy offers to pay for half the damages. Mr. Barton doesn’t want to pay anything. He even insults Sophia when she bites back by mocking her Italian heritage.

In response to such an insult, Sophia gives him the evil-eye curse. After the Bartons storm off, Dorothy scolds her mother for making things worse. Sophia assures her the evil eye always works.

Later, Mr. Barton comes by the Golden Girls’ home furious. He found his tires slashed. Believing Sophia was behind it, he threatens to have her arrested if he comes on his property.

Dorothy tries to convince Mr. Barton that the tree is on his property. Despite having evidence, Barton refuses to pay and tells the girls to sue.

Mr. and Ms. Barton return the next day. They call Sophia a witch, and Mr. Barton begs her to remove the curse. He’s had nothing but bad luck, including boils on his bottom.

Sophia agrees to release the curse if he removes the tree and pays for damages. He agrees and runs off. Ms. Barton reveals to the girls that she was responsible for all his bad luck. Well, except for the boil, which was just luck.

The following neighbor they deal with is Frieda Claxton. She won’t sign the petition the girls have for saving a 200-year-old oak tree. Sophia recognizes her as a rotten older woman, unlike herself.

Rose disagrees, while Blanche sides with Sophia. Dorothy backs up Sophia by mentioning how Frieda was a popular Halloween costume.

The next day at the courthouse, Rose brings up how her good nature convinced Freida to sign her petition. The girls then approach Freida. She immediately comments on Blanche being a slut for her visible sex acts in her room.

Dorothy tries to approach Freida nicely. Frieda says Dorothy has nothing going on in her bedroom. Before Dorothy can fight back, Rose steps in to save the day thanking Frieda for her signature.

Frieda then refuses and says she lied only for Rose to give her free food. Claxton states how she hates the tree and hates people. As she storms off, Sophia remarks that an evil spirit may possess her.

In the courtroom, Claxton and Dorothy clash on the issue. Claxton threatens the girls by saying she has controversial photos of Blanche. Rose tries to appeal to Claxton’s sense of humanity.

An angered Rose finally stands up to Claxton’s bitterness. Rose argues that if Claxton doesn’t like what they’re trying to do, she should drop dead. Dropping dead is precisely what Claxton does in that very courtroom.

The girls later decide to attend Frieda’s funeral. There’s barely anybody present. The only nice person present to say anything is at the wrong funeral.

Despite the one woman getting the wrong funeral, she recognizes the name Claxton. She then kicks the coffin before leaving.

Rose tells the girls that they were right about Frieda and storms off. The girls leave, feeling decent about being there for Frieda’s farewell. They also learn that she was accidentally cremated.

The next day, Rose tells the girls she spread Frieda’s ashes around the old oak tree. Doing so made city hall leave it alone for not to disturb a burial spot. Dorothy finds Rose’s act sweet yet odd.

All the girls look at the old oak tree with love. Sophia, however, is more interested in how a dog is peeing on it.

The next terrible neighbors are the McDowells. The girls get along with them for an evening of introductions. All of them except Sophia try to rush them out the door.

Sophia brings up how the McDowells outstayed their welcome. The rest of the girls disagree. The rest of the girls discuss how much they like the couple while Rose regales them with a silly St. Olaf story.

Later, Sophia answers the door and is greeted by detectives. After a misunderstanding of introductions, Dorothy lets them inside.

After Blanche tries to make a pass at them, the detectives question the girls about the McDowells. They reveal the McDowells have been swiping gems. The detectives recommend setting up a stakeout operation in the girls’ home to stop them.

Dorothy doesn’t want this, but Blanche is all for it. After another St. Olaf story, Rose stresses how the police would keep them safe. The girls agree to let the detectives set up shop.

The next day, the detectives investigate by listening in on the McDowells. The girls try to help, but the detectives tell them to leave police work to the professionals.

Later, Mrs. McDowell comes to the girls’ house. Rose is at a loss for words on how to address her criminal neighbor. Sophia tries to cover up the detectives by suggesting they’re family.

McDowell offers for the girls to come over before she leaves. The detectives believe this is the perfect chance to plant a bug in the house. Dorothy volunteers to bug the place.

The detectives are surprised that the girls pull it off. The girls return home to admit it was a lot of fun to work as undercover agents. They then listen in on the bug that was planted.

In the night, the detectives hear about the exchange going down at the McDowells. They leave to arrest them and tell the girls to get on the floor.

After a fart joke from Sophia, the scared girls listen and hear gunshots. One detective rushes in and calls for an ambulance. His partner has been shot.

Later, the girls visit the shot detective recovering in the hospital. The detectives congratulate the ladies on their work. Before they leave, Dorothy recommends a CAT scan for Rose after her remark about the McDowells and their lawn.

The Golden Girls managed to survive all manner of neighbors. Sometimes they were cranky, and sometimes they were criminals. The four ladies always pulled through and solved their differences with cheesecake, per their nightly ritual.
