True love is always inspiring. When Clint Black and his lovely bride Lisa Hartman said “I Do” in October of 1991, it was clear to everyone in attendance that they were in the presence of that elusive kind of relationship that can stand the test of time.
The couple had met just one year before getting married, when Lisa attended Clint’s New Year’s Event concert in Houston, TX with her mother. Clint’s performance blew Lisa away, and she insisted on going backstage afterward to meet Clint.
There were immediate sparks. Clint was dazzled by her beauty, and Lisa felt an instant connection to him.
Both Clint and Lisa were extremely busy during the first part of their relationship. Clint was pursuing his music career, while Lisa had her sights set on Hollywood fame. This didn’t put off the couple one bit, though, and soon Clint proposed. The pair were married a year later on Clint’s Houston farm.
Eight years later, Clint and Lisa released an incredibly romantic duet entitled “When I Said I Do”. Clint wrote the song for Lisa, and released it as the first single to his album D’lectrified. The song hit number one on the country charts and in 2000 the couple won the Vocal Event of the Year at the ACM Awards.
