They can mimic different kinds of sounds, including human speech, but sometimes I wonder if they are just mimicking. This cockatiel is named Kiki. Apparently she has a special talent for whistling that has been cultivated by her owner. Kiki has several songs in her repertoire, but her owner continues to teach her more of them, and she continues to learn.
In this video, Kiki whistles the “Happy Birthday” tune for the camera quite skillfully. Can you imagine what a treat this would be to have this bird perform at your birthday party? According to her owner, he helped her start in the beginning, but soon she took over herself. She must have an amazing memory to remember all of these songs.
