Cold Case: Police Search For Couple Who Beat Restaurant Owner and Daughter Because of Chicken

When a pair of customers at the Quick Chick food stand in Baxley, Georgia complained their chicken had been served cold, the owner, Jeanette Norris, talked it over with them and refunded their money. This sounds like pretty good customer service, but Nathaniel and Latasha Smith didn’t seem to think so. “She went berserk,” Norris told local news station WTOC. “They both lost it, him and her both; started cussing and beating on the window.” When she told them the police had just been called, the Smiths really lost it, violently assaulting Norris and her daughter. Security cameras captured the shocking attack and you’ll see it in the a local news report we’ve posted below.

As Latasha Smith punched the owner of Quick Chick in the face, her daughter came out to help. The thanks she got was a roundhouse punch from Nathaniel Smith that literally sent her flying backward. As Jeanette Norris described the scene, “One of my employees yelled, ‘He’s got her,’ and that’s when I realized he had hit her. Who does that? Who punches a child like she’s a grown man standing there? He needs putting under the jail.”

The Smiths fled in a silver Cadillac Escalade, leaving Jeanette Norris with a bruised face and broken nose. Her daughter suffered bruises and a concussion. Thanks to news reports and concerned citizens, video of the incident went viral and the police have received numerous tips. They’re hoping all the cooperation from the public will help them catch the Smiths. As the Baxley, Georgia chief of police said, “You hear the old thing that people don’t want to get involved. They got involved.”
