Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to his “America’s Got Talent” audition, of course. That bird was none other than Chicken Scratch Sam, aka Sam Brilhart, an aspiring comedian who brought his poultry jokes to Hollywood.
Sam, wearing a full chicken costume complete with a radiant red comb, laid on the puns for the judges: his “impeccable” record, his insistence on “pecking” at his food, even “this one chick” he was dating.
Simon Cowell, was less than impressed, throwing up his red X after just a few jokes, to which Chicken Scratch Sam responded with a startled caw. Howie Mandel played along for longer, at one point engaging in cooing banter with the contestant.
It might not have been the chick flick Simon was hoping for, but Chicken Scratch Sam isn’t cooked yet. Both Howie and judge Sofia Vergara were hungry for more and sent him through to the next round.
