Comedian Kabir Singh Performs Hilarious Stand-up Comedy on AGT Live Show

A man in a suit holds a microphone, gesturing with his other hand, with "MOM Missed call" on the screen behind him.

Before his audition on America’s Got Talent, comedian Kabir Singh said he couldn’t wait to get on stage and show the world what he could do.

He did it in the auditions, and he did it again in the first quarterfinals show. This time, he told stories about his mom.

He opened with, “I’ve had a rough week. My mom just learned how to text message people. The worse thing that’s ever happened to me in my life.”

Clearly, though, he makes the joke with love.

Much of his act is about family. He credits them with what he is today.

“When I was a kid, I realized that the easiest way to make friends was just being really funny,” he said.

“My parents were, believe it or not, very supportive of me,” he said, perhaps aiming at the stereotype that Indian parents demand their kids become doctors before even thinking of doing anything else. Singh’s experience wasn’t like that.

“Everything that I’ve done in my whole life is because of my mom and my dad,” he said.

He gave a moving reason why winning America’s Got Talent would mean so much to him. “When I was about a year or two into stand-up comedy, my dad passed away. He was our anchor. And then it was basically just my mom and I.”

“I’ve pretty much been financially supporting my mom through comedy. The last year was quite a struggle, so it was a lot of pressure. Like, what are we going to do for money, there’s nothing coming in.”

Coming on America’s Got Talent was like “a light at the end of the tunnel,” he said.

He said he couldn’t wait to get on stage and show the world what I love to do.
