In a funny sketch from ‘The Carol Burnett Show’ Season 9, Episode 17, Carol and Harvey play a couple who are swamped with work. Their exhausting schedule provides plenty of comical moments for their characters and the audience.
Carol sits at the table, and Harvey Korman walks up and asks if she slept well. She didn’t get any rest until 3 a.m. Carol tells him that she had a long meeting at work until 3 a.m. deciding what fabric to use for their full clothing line.
Harvey said he only slept two hours because he opened a new office in San Francisco, and it’s losing money. Then, Carol offers lunch but says she has a meeting, and Harvey says he has a flight.
Carol asks about 1:30 and says they could grab a cup of coffee for ten minutes. Harvey says it is pushing his day but says he has 8 minutes up for grabs at 3:30.
Carol says one of them has to pick up Bob at the airport at 4:40. Harvey declines because he has to meet with someone to discuss a merger at his job.
Harvey asks who Bob is, and Carol says it’s their son! Harvey says, “Oh, that Bob.” Later, they continue this discussion, but Carol stops and says it’s time for her to go to the hospital.
Carol stands up, and she is pregnant, and the audience gasps in shock. Harvey asks if she needs him, and she checks her watch and says, “No, I won’t be long.”
