Cop helps young boy overcome a shocking night – Adopts him later

Family is not defined by blood. But, many times, it is the act of love that brings people closer and makes them your family. When several people asked Det. Mike Blair, why he had adopted a boy from a homicide case; he told everyone that it was what God wanted.

The boy was brutally assaulted by his dad. Det. Blair was one of the first responders on the scene and was told by the team that they were not sure if the boy would survive.

When Blair visited the boy, Ronnie, a football fan, he brought him some signed Tampa Bay Buccaneers memorabilia to make him happy. Since that fateful day, the two of them bonded well.

One day, Ronnie requested him to watch a movie with him. Blair told the boy that he could not stay there as he had work. However, he told Ronnie that he would return, and they could enjoy the movie.

Blair returned to the hospital, but he had his wife accompanying him this time. The three of them watched the movie. Blair and his wife already had 5 children. But she instantly knew that they had to get this boy home.

Ronnie was soon placed under the care of other family members, but there were several problems in the home. Hence, the child welfare people responsible for looking for a guardian for the poor boy contacted Blair. They asked him if he knew anyone who could help them.

Blair promptly agreed to adopt Ronnie. All his 5 children encouraged him with his decision. Even his wife was pleased about it. Ronnie was now surrounded by his new family members who loved and cared for him.
