Country music would be nothing without the beautiful friendship of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. The two worked together in 1983 to record their duet “Islands In The Stream” and have been making incredible music ever since.
Rogers passed away in March of 2020, making their newest duet “You Can’t Make Old Friends” that much more emotional. Dolly and Kenny have a talent of perfectly harmonizing together, even after decades have gone by.
Parton said in the video below, “There are different kinds of soulmates. It’s like with Kenny, I just see him, and I smile.” Kenny agrees, and you can’t help but fall in love with the pair. Friendships like this are hard to come by and can’t be created overnight.
That’s exactly what “You Can’t Make Old Friends” is all about. Kenny mentions that he doesn’t care how successful the song becomes. He just wanted to make another song with one of his favorite people about their incredible life-long connection.
