I’ve always wondered what it’s like for animals to meet their offspring for the first time. Some father animals have to wait weeks before they can do this. It’s not like a nurse can hand them their child right after birth, like one did for me with my son. Do they feel nervous? Are they even aware of what’s going on? This video shows one such example of a first-time meeting between cat parent and child.
We see a cat, one of those with the pushed-in faces, meeting his daughter for the first time. She’s been with her mommy for the first 12 or so weeks. Now Daddy gets to see one of the lives that he helped bring into the world. They are in a playroom, and his daughter is SO adorable… she looks so fluffy. If I saw her, I’d be hugging her for the next hour or so. Like many cats, he shows initial interest and then wanders off.
Like a lot of daddies out there, this cat takes an interest in his child’s toy. “Oh. You don’t mind if I play with the Playstation 4 again, do you? I have to test to see if this game works. The controls seem a little sluggish, so I’m going to see if I can iron out those kinks. How about you do something like read a book and let Daddy play with this for an hour? You can play later. What? You’ll be asleep? OK, tomorrow.”
Although some were commenting that he seemed aloof toward his daughter, he did stay in the same room as his offspring. That’s light years better than some parents that are out there. He’s spending time with both his fuzzy little daughter and his mate, so that’s pretty good, at least in my book… It’s not like he’s going to be able to sit down with her and read her a book. If he could do that, then this would be a REALLY special video.
