Being married to a witch came with its challenges on Bewitched. Darrin would have to deal with his wife Samantha using her powers in wild ways. Her mother, Endora, was no different.
Endora was always much more forceful with her witch powers. She would always use them to fight back against Darrin marrying her daughter. In this compilation video, you can see just how far this feud went.
In season 1, episode 4, 'Mother, Meet What's His Name,' Darrin meets Endora for the first time. Darrin speaks openly to Samantha about his perception of witches. Samantha finds herself frustrated with Darrin.
After admitting he's scared, Darrin musters up the courage to answer the door and welcome Endora. Samantha jokes that Endora will probably leave her broom outside.
Darrin was surprised to see how lovely she looked. He invites her inside, and they start chatting. Darrin touches a bit of a nerve when he says he wants to live everyday life with Samantha.
'What is normal to you, young man, is asinine to us,' says Endora coldly. Samantha says she wants to spend her life with Darrin. Endora says she disapproves of such a marriage.
Darrin gets defensive and states that they won't need any of Endora's approval or help. Endora nearly turns Darrin into an artichoke before Samantha stops her.
Endora tells Darrin to be careful and that she'll be watching their relationship closely. She leaves in an explosion of green smoke. Samantha assures a frightened Darrin that Endora is nice once you get to know her.
In season 2, episode 5, 'The Joker Is A Card,' Endora comes to Darrin and Samantha's house for a visit. Endora starts by incorrectly addressing Darrin as Dexter, a running joke of the series.
Endora says she heard a strange sound. Darrin says it's nothing. He reiterates how he will not take any of Endora's insults.
As Darrin sits in the living room, Endora magically makes the chair behind him slide back. Darrin falls to the floor and angrily gets up, ready to fight Endora.
Samantha tries to calm Darrin, but he does not have it. Darrin has a secret weapon he's ready to use on Endora.
He removes a bell and duck caller from his pockets, referring to the sounds from earlier. He proceeds with a dance and song he directs towards an unimpressed Endora.
Darrin has been misled. He thought this song and dance would make Endora vanish. Endora is more intrigued to see what musical exploits Darrin will develop next.
Off in different parts of the house, Uncle Arthur watches the performance with laughter. He loves watching Darrin make a fool of himself.
In season 4, episode 14, 'My What Big Ears You Have,' Darrin makes a bet with Endora. Against Samantha's will, Darrin bets Endora on what's in a box. He's sure he bets that Endora should go away for a long time.
Endora makes her bet that Darrin should go away for a long time. Darrin takes that bet, and he ends up being wrong. Endora says she looks forward to the quality time she'll have with Samantha.
In season 6, episode 9, 'Samantha's Secret Spell,' Endora comes to Darrin's house early to find a mask for her outfit. She wants Samantha to go with her to a costume ball.
Samantha refuses, and Darrin tries to tell her to leave. Annoyed, Endora magically forms a zipper on Darrin's mouth. Samantha forces her mother to return his mouth.
In season 3, episode 6, 'Endora Moves In For A Spell,' Endora gets to see a little bit of Darrin's sweeter side. She listens to how Darrin speaks about needing Endora to fight Uncle Arthur.
Endora is impressed but still gets Darrin's name wrong. She refers to him this time as Darwin twice.
In season 7, episode 24, 'Out of the Mouths of Babes,' Endora turns Darrin into a child. She gets tired of him talking about being the man of the house and turns him smaller. She states that his look matches his mentality.
In season 4, episode 13, 'Solid Gold Mother-In-Law,' Darrin is annoyed by Endora at work. He notices Endora's picture moving about the room.
Darrin throws the picture in the trash. The picture magically gets out of the garbage and back on his desk. Endora's photo then winks at him. He then sticks the image in his drawer, but she gets out again.
In season 7, episode 20, 'This Little Piggie,' Endora removes some of her troublemaking magic from Darrin. Samantha then defends Darrin.
Endora, however, only views Darrin as pigheaded. To prove this, she transforms his head into that of a pig. She says it's a remarkable improvement.
In season 5, episode 1, 'Samantha's Wedding Present,' Darrin is shrunk by Endora's magic. He then apologizes, and she returns him to his standard size. Samantha then says Endora should apologize for her magic.
Endora says she is sorry for what she did but only because of her daughter. Darrin doesn't buy that as an apology. Endora then leaves, stating she's going to study with a guru in India.
Feeling miffed, Darrin mocks Endora. Samantha calls him down by reminding them they're a cute couple. They then share a kiss to showcase how much they still love each other, despite Endora's meddling.
