23-year-old David Vogel sang Ariana Grande’s hit song ‘Breathin’’ for the judges, one of whom was Ariana Grande! But he didn’t just sing the song; he gave his own take on the song with an acoustic guitar and a kind of rock music vibe.
It seems fitting that Ariana was the only one who turned around for him and became the obvious choice to coach him for the rest of the season.
She loved what he had done with the song, giving it his own flair and flavor. She said that it was brilliant of him to give the song something of his own instead of just singing it as it was on the album.
While the others didn’t turn around, they did appreciate his talent and effort. Kelly Clarkson also said that she felt like she had heard the song before.
This led to Blake Shelton joking that it was Ariana’s song, adding to the running joke that Clarkson seems to know every piece the contestants sing.
The video has received more than 2 million views, so Vogel has definitely found an audience for himself regardless of whether or not he wins The Voice.
