Dean Martin Sings ‘Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime’. I Was Stunned At How Good He Was.

When it came to being cool, Dean Martin pretty much had the entire market cornered during his lifetime. There was laid-back, and there was Martin. For much of his life, he seemed to laugh at anything that came his way. He had an incredible wit and charm that few could hope to ever match. This video that shows him singing the song that most people remember him by, “Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime”.

What made Martin so great was that he could easily work an audience like few people could. His relaxed demeanor put everyone at ease and he could be as self-deprecating as anyone out there. He was one of the most famous people out there, but he seemed like someone you could walk up to and say hello to. I don’t think many people tried that with Frank, for some reason. Martin was the mellow one.

This trait made him a wonderful guest on talk shows like “The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson”. There was one time where he made both Carson and his guest, Bob Hope, nearly lose their composure from laughing too hard. The audience in this clip is eating out of his hand from the very first words he speaks. They couldn’t get enough of his irreverence, and he was more than happy to oblige.

The thing about Martin was that his cool demeanor was an act. He even admitted it at the beginning of this video, when he told the audience that the drink in his hand was a prop. Martin then wisecracked that he felt sorry people who didn’t drink – when they woke up in the morning, it was going to be as good as they felt all day. It’s an overused phrase, but there wa only one Dean. In fact, the title of this song is his epitaph at his crypt in Los Angeles.
