1961 was a big year for great music, featuring the release of Dion’s hit ‘The Wanderer.’ The timeless tune about romancing multiple women in various towns resonated with rock and roll fans.

The performance starts under a neon sign that reads “7 Club.” The black-and-white footage has been restored to brilliant 4K. Dion stands on stage alone to sing the first verse.
The camera is close to Dion’s face and later zooms out to a massive stage with a band crammed onto it. There are 5 singers on the right side singing background vocals and snapping.

There is a large crowd of people as well, and plants and curtains surround the stage. It shows the crowd, and they are smiling and bobbing their heads to the music as they sit at their dinner tables, all dressed up.
The whole band steps side-to-side in unison with sax players, a pianist, a drummer, and a guitarist. Dion dances around the stage, waving his arms. Dion’s song sparked a career that lasted for decades.

Dion DiMucci sang 39 songs that reached the Top 40 charts in the 50s and 60s. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989. ‘The Wanderer’ was featured on the album ‘Runaround Sue.’
While Dion’s first hit was ‘Runaround Sue,’ he was recognized by ‘Rolling Stone Magazine’ for ‘The Wanderer’ when it was voted number 243 on their list of ‘The 500 Greatest Songs of All-Time.’
