The bond between owner and pet is really strong. In fact, I may be wrong to even say ‘pet’. This is because for many, their dog is just like a family member. They share in your pain, revel in your joy. They are happy when you are and try to cheer you up when you’re sad – just like any good friend.
Fresh out of school, Robert decided to put job hunting on the back burner and go on a cross country road trip as a symbol of their journey to live. When Bella had a shoulder injury looked at by the vet, it was discovered that she had cancer.
So, when owner Robert Kugler found out that his nine year old chocolate colored Labrador Bella was diagnosed with cancer, he was heartbroken. Having had her since she was a puppy, he was devastated, especially when vets told him she had only three to six months left to live. So he decided to make the most of the situation.
Instead of job hunting, he embarked on a road trip that would be the adventure of a lifetime. Even though Bella had to have one leg amputated due to the cancer pain, he didn’t let that stop him and pet pooch from beginning a new chapter of their lives. He and his trust canine sidekick decided to explore the corners of the US, discovering the rich history of DC to the sunny shores of Florida, from the famous Niagara Falls to bustling New York and more. They even went to the Marine Corps Ball in Chicago.
They have really been there and done that. Their adventure has been welcomed by friends and well wishers with open arms all over the country. Sometimes camping out in his 4 Runner, they have also made new friends who sympathise with his situation and urge him to never stop. In fact, 14 months after Bella was given the sentence of having only a max 6 months to live, she is still going strong with her best friend and travel buddy, Roger.
I hope they never stop. I love the special bond these two share and find it heart warming that he has devoted his time to making her last moments on Earth special. What did you think of the video?
