Don Rickles' 1966 Addams Family Halloween Laugh Fest

Two men in suits smile, one with a mustache, another with braided hair, in a vintage setting.

When you think of Halloween celebrations, you might not immediately picture spending it with bank robbers. But in a delightful twist, The Addams Family found themselves doing just that. Let's dive into this spookily hilarious tale, which has an unforgettable video clip that is a must-watch.

A man in a suit holds a large paper bag while a woman and a child look on, in a vintage setting.

It began innocuously enough. Gomez Addams, played by the ever-charismatic John Astin, gleefully receives a carving knife in the mail. And what's Halloween without a carved pumpkin? With Morticia (Carolyn Jones) sharpening it to perfection, Gomez begins crafting a jack-o-lantern. However, instead of the regular scary face, he chooses an all too familiar visage: Uncle Fester's (Jackie Coogan).

As the evening ensues, the air is filled with excitement. Morticia and Gomez eagerly anticipate a parade of guests on this spooky night. Meanwhile, their kids, Pugsley and Wednesday, don costumes so eerie it's almost too daunting even for the Addams! With bags in hand, the two prepare for a night of trick-or-treating.

A man in a suit leans in closely to another man in a sweater, surrounded by bushes.

But here's where the story takes a comically dark turn. On this same evening, two bank robbers, Marty and Claude, find themselves in a pinch. In a bid to escape the police, their car conveniently runs out of gas right outside the Addamses' mansion. The gates magically welcome them, and soon enough, they're mistaken for trick-or-treaters by none other than young Wednesday.

The Addams, the ever-gracious hosts, are thrilled at these unexpected guests. Gomez, without hesitation, invites them inside. And while Grandmama Addams chaperones the kids in their candy pursuit, Gomez, Morticia, and Fester stay behind, blissfully unaware of their guests' true identity.

A man in a black robe stands with four others in formal attire in a grand, ornate room.

When it's time for treats, the comedic crescendo reaches its peak. Ever the generous soul, Gomez asks to see the robbers' bag, fully expecting to drop in some Halloween treats. To his surprise, he finds the bag brimming with money. In his unique Addams way, he concludes that this must be the new neighborhood trend. And in true Gomez style, he adds to the stash from his personal collection!

This unforgettable night is one for the books, or in this case, a video clip. It's an ideal trip down memory lane, best enjoyed with friends and family.
