Steven Spielberg's E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was a childhood classic for most of you. This is because the movie, with a sensational story, was directed to create a lasting impression in the kids' minds. In other words, it was a perfect example of childhood imagination.
The popularity of the movie during those times and the way it became a part of every imaginative child's life cannot be ignored. E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial was about three siblings finding an alien. The movie centered around how these kids and the alien became friends. It also showcased how they tried to save the alien from the authorities.
Recently, in the Drew Barrymore Show, Drew Barrymore decided to relive the days of shooting for the movie with her co-stars. It was a special occasion since it was the movie's 40th anniversary. Her reel siblings in the film were invited to the show Henry Thomas and Robert MacNaughton, and their reel mother, Dee Wallace. Drew revealed at the show how much she loved the cute alien in the movie and would take lunch to him.
The 1982 movie had Drew playing the role of Gertie. Although she was terrified to find the alien in her brother's closet, eventually, she started loving him. Thomas and Henry played the role of Drew's elder brothers. Thomas revealed that it was pretty cold on stage during one of the scenes, and Drew asked for a scarf for E.T. from the wardrobe lady. So little Drew went and wrapped the scarf around E.T.'s neck.
Wallace also recalled the good old days of shooting for the movie. She revealed that Drew often walked up to E.T. and talked to him. So she informed Steven, who appointed two guys to keep E.T. alive every time Drew walked up to speak to the rubber doll.

Drew revealed that she had spoken to Steven about a sequel to the movie. However, the director rejected the idea, saying he would prefer the classic to remain untouched. This disappointed Drew because that meant the old cast could not come together again.
The 40th anniversary of the movie was notable for Drew because her kids are around the same age she was during the filming of the film. It was an emotional moment for Drew; she felt as if life had come full circle for her.
