Veteran country music duo Dan and Shay, made an appearance for a second year, on the 2018 CMA Country Christmas television special, which aired on ABC
For nine years now, this annual music show, hosted by Reba McEntire, has delivered a stirring, two-hour celebration of music for the holiday season.
Dan and Shay’s rendition of the sentimental Christmas tune, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas”, was a stand-out performance this year.
The guys are up on stage, dressed in dapper suits and surrounded by a jolly, Christmas theme setting. The music from their guitar is backed by the house band.
The emotionally charged song begins as a slow ballad but gathers pace during the first verse. Shay Mooney’s superb vocals carry it from there and it just gets better and better.
When interviewed after the performance, Dan Smyers admitted that they had spiced up the arrangement a bit, allowing room for a more playful, rockin’ delivery.
They are known for a history of giving both traditional performances and a more liberal arrangement of a variety of Christmas hit songs and this is what keeps them fresh and on the cutting edge.
