Electrician Called to Fix Woman's Light Fixes Her Whole House for Free

A man in a "Dane Electric" shirt is fixing a ceiling light fixture.

It all started when 72-year-old Gloria Scott called electrician John Kinney to her home to fix a broken light. However, Gloria received a whole lot more than just one fixed light.

An older woman with white hair, glasses, and earrings, wearing a dark cardigan over a white shirt, smiles softly.

When John arrived at the senior citizen's home, he quickly realized her house was in serious disrepair. The broken light was honestly the least of her worries.

Gloria did not have running water. All of her plumbing and electrical work was a mess, and raccoons had gotten into her walls. The problems with her house seemed endless.

John went home after fixing the light and thought of Gloria all weekend. He knew she didn't have the money to pay to restore her home, and he knew she didn't feel right asking for help.

The electrician returned the next week and began fixing every wire in Gloria's home. He made a Facebook page asking their community to pitch in money and free labor to help Gloria have a safe, livable home.

John's kindness inspired his entire town. Many tradesmen offered to fix Gloria's home. Others sent in care packages, donated money, volunteered their time to restore her lawn, and some families made big meals for all the workers.

Just one act of kindness has completely changed Gloria's life. She tells the interviewer, "Don't pinch me. I don't want to wake up." John has founded a movement titled "Gloria's Warriors." He hopes people all over the country are inspired to help the senior citizens in their own communities.
