Elephant Herd Stops to Help Baby Who Just Took a Tumble

Elephants gather around a baby elephant lying on the ground, appearing to assist or comfort it.

They say it takes a village to raise a child. This herd of orphaned elephants took that idiom to heart when it came to the youngest member of their family: an albino baby elephant named Khanyisa.

A herd of elephants, including a baby, walks along a dirt path in a natural setting.

Khanyisa might not be related to her family members by blood, but that did not stop them from wanting to take care of her. That was especially true when the herd went for a stroll.

The giant elephants cut stunning silhouettes against the setting sun as they walked along the dirt path. Unfortunately, baby Khanyisa was not as prepared for her walk as the rest of her family.

Elephants gather closely, their trunks intertwined in a natural display of connection and community.

Like most babies, Khanyisa did not possess the same grace as her elders. Khanyisa raced to keep up with the leader of her family, but she stumbled and fell over on the soft sand.

Her family responded immediately, halting their walk to ensure that the little one was okay. A few of the older elephants even reached their trunks down to help her back to her feet.

Once she was standing again, the little one took off as if nothing had happened. But only a few seconds later, she had another adorable stumble and plummeted to the ground.

Fortunately, this lovable baby elephant did not have far to fall, and with her attentive family to watch over her, she had nothing to worry about. Watch this heartwarming interaction between Khanyisa and her adoptive family
