‘Face Mites’ Live in Your Pores and Mate on Your Face While You Sleep

As weird as it seems, we are all carrying around a bunch of bugs on our faces. As gross as it seems, we are all carrying around a bunch of bugs on our faces. Called face mites, these little stowaways live off the oil your body secretes, but leave nothing behind.

While this may come as a shock to you, you’re never really alone. Little mites live in your hair follicles, keeping the oil in your pores in check. They might be helpful, but these little cousins to spiders are anything but cute.

As the video description relates: “Also called eyelash mites, they’re too small to see with the naked eye. They’re mostly transparent, and at about .3 millimeters long, it would take about five face adult mites laid end to end to stretch across the head of a pin.”
