Family bluegrass concert is 30 minutes of pure smiles and fun

The Petersens are a band from Branson, Missouri, and they’re unequivocally American and family-based. These values permeate their musical style. The bluegrass players consist of four siblings, their mom, and a family friend.

The group sings every song with such passion and makes them their own. The renditions are made unique with a bluegrass twist. Even though the concert falls under the same theme, each performer has their style.

The online concert consists of six versions of famous songs. Katie starts the show by singing ‘Steel rails,’ a bluegrass song by Alison Kraus. Next up is her sister Ellen with her version of Mamma Mia, officially sung by the Swedish pop group ABBA and made famous by the romantic musical comedy of the same name.

After them, Julianne sings a chilling rendition of ‘Wade in the water,’ a song by the late American jazz and folk singer Eva Cassidy. Family friend Emmett sings ‘I feel the blues moving in’ with the help of Katie and Julianne.

Then it’s Katie’s turn at the microphone with the song, ‘Carolina in my mind’ by folk-rock singer-songwriter James Taylor. And lastly but not least, Matt is the principal singer of the bluegrass version of ‘Bohemian rhapsody.’

The Petersens did a fantastic job in the arrangement of the songs. Viewers have also commented on the siblings’ ability to sing so well together and at the same time keep their style in great harmony.

The video has gained The Petersens more than 185 thousand views and 10 thousand likes on YouTube. The young band is praised by viewers for their fantastic mastering of the instruments while playing bluegrass.
