There’s no denying that losing a dog is like losing a member of your own family. And sometimes, no matter how hard you try, you just can’t do enough to find them again. We featured a clip below, that tells us the story of the Braun family, who while on a camping trip in a reservoir in Lake Tahoe, California, lost their dog in the middle of the forest. He got scared after he heard a random gunshot one night, and ran off into the woods. Murphy, as the golden retriever is called, was 5 years old at the time.
They looked tirelessly for him, but to no avail. They had to get back home, leaving Murphy behind. Not giving up just yet, the family kept coming back to Lake Tahoe every few weeks, looking for him still. They received many false reports throughout those months, but they never lost hope. After two years had passed, they received a call from the new campground caretaker, who had seen a dog in bad state looking for food. They left some of Murphys old things hoping that the dog might recognize the smell, and what happened next, well, you just have to see for yourself.
