Family of Three Enjoys Living on Gorgeous Self-Sufficient Boat

When you think of your dream home, what type of view do you imagine? You might think of a bustling city, a quaint countryside, or a jaw-dropping view of the ocean. One couple found themselves with the ability to choose anywhere they wanted.

Brian and Karin Trauman have lived on their luxurious sailboat for ten years. It’s a 53-foot sloop rig ketch with 83,000 nautical miles. They have solar and wind power to make sure that they’re living as comfortably as they would if they were on land.

The couple has an adorable child together that’s along for the ride as well. The Trauman’s can live entirely off the grid for three to six months at a time. This is in large part thanks to the multiple freezers, a built-in washing machine, and a water maker that creates fresh water out of salt water.

On their latest adventure, they’ve equipped the boat with a heater, so that they’re able to explore the Artic. While a lifestyle like Brian’s and Karin’s isn’t for everyone, they give you a great idea of what else is out there.
