Figure skaters Mariyah and Peter Gerber find the cutest way to announce their first pregnancy – through a figure skating routine. Mariyah, 28, and Peter, 29, met through their mutual love of ice skating and fell in love.
When the video starts, we see them tenderly touch hands before spinning around the ice and then Peter picks up Mariyah and twirls her around quite a few times before putting her back down.
He then comes up behind her and reveals a onesie with the words “Gerber Baby” written across it. You can see the love in their eyes throughout the routine.
Mariyah and Peter run a small online business in Long Beach, California, and they occasionally dance for shows, with Peter having retired from competitive ice skating.
He began skating at the age of 6 or 7 and has represented both Canada, where he is from, and Poland in ice skating competitions.
He is a proud holder of the Overcoming Adversity Achievement Award from Skate Canada and has won first and third place in the Bavarian Open and the Finlandia Trophy tournaments.
Mariyah has also been figure skating since childhood, ever since her grandmother signed her up for lessons in Riverside California at the age of five. She has been a vocal proponent of diversity in figure skating.
