When Merle Haggard passed away last April, fan and colleagues in the music industry were rocked by the sudden void created from the artist’s absence. Many began to wonder when a movie commemorating his life and contributions would be made. Well, it seems that plans are in the works already!
Deadline reports that there is already a script written for the biopic, penned by screenwriter Cliff Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth is responsible for Cinderella Man, another biopic, this one about 1930s boxer James Braddock. It seems the script is in good hands, then.
Cinderella Man was nominated for best original screenplay by BAFTA and the WGA, and nominated for three Academy Awards. It seems the script for Haggard’s life is in good hands, then.
Haggard was in talks regarding a movie with producer Donald Kushner before his death, and asked good friend Carl Cooper to take over after his passing. The film, titled Done It All, will look at Haggard’s life from his childhood all the way through his rise to fame. We can’t wait.
