How did they all fit? What happens when 5 Basset Hounds take an afternoon nap

What we cherish most about our pets is all the love and companionship we get from them. That’s not to say we don’t appreciate all the laughs, too. Animal antics, particularly antics gone wrong, can send us into fits of uncontrollable laughter, sometimes to the point that we end up rolling around on the floor next to our furry little comedians. As is well known, cats rule the internet: everyone seems to love watching their crazy shenanigans. But let’s not lose sight of the fact that dogs can be a wonderful source of laughter, too.

Take Basset Hounds, for example. They were originally bred for hunting rabbits but today, your typical Basset Hound is leading a far less strenuous life as a family pet. They’re a docile, gentle, friendly, and playful breed and get along well with children and other pets. Even their droopy faces are endearing.

Gretchen Hoey loves Basset Hounds so much she has five of them! Her quintet are very well-behaved: this is great for her sanity but it means they usually don’t provide any misbehavior-based comedy. Nevertheless, even Basset Hounds like these can still be very, very funny.

When Gretchen noticed that all five of her Basset Hounds had somehow crammed themselves into a single Dogloo for an afternoon nap, she had the presence of mind to reach for her camera. As you’ll see in the video posted below, when she came closer, the dogs woke up and emerged from the Dogloo one after the other. It was like clowns clambering out of a tiny car! How they all fit and how they decided who had to be at the bottom of the pile is a total mystery. Were the laws of physics somehow suspended? Who knows? But the result was side-splitting!

Did these tightly packed Basset Hounds squeeze a few laughs out of you? We’d love to hear from you in the comments at Facebook. Don’t forget to like and share!
