Floating on a river in the Widgeon Slough area in BC, Canada is an island built from salvaged materials. A man named Shadow created this place and has been living there for over 17 years.

Shadow gives a tour of his home as he talks about what he does and why he is doing it. Nowhere Island is what he calls it. He wants to protect the environment, and he has been living off the grid.

Solar panels provide him electricity, he has a garden with various types of food and collects water from a nearby spring. Everything he does is aimed at being clean and sustainable.

The biggest threats he faces in the area are poachers, pollution, film crews, and the local government, who have been trying to kick him out for years.

Every day he goes around the river on his skiff or kayak. All he wants to do is protect the environment. He picks up any trash and helps animals in need of aid.

It takes a whole day for him to go to town and back. He has to take a kayak and then a bike to get supplies. In town, he has many friends and family that also come visit him sometimes.
