George Strait Celebrates 44 Years Of Wedded Bliss With High School Sweetheart, Norma

There’s no denying that George Strait is a legend in the country music scene. Even people who don’t listen to country know who he is. Fans of the artist even call him the “King Of Country”, a high honor, indeed.

Strait’s career began back in 1981 with the release of his debut single “Unwound”. That track eventually found itself at the number 3 spot on Billboard charts. And it’s only gotten better from there, with more than 80 Top Ten hits.

But even before Strait was topping charts, he had his biggest fan by his side. His wife, Norma, has seen him through every step of his country music journey. The two were married in Mexico in 1971 and have been together ever since.

“We love each other and we still like each other,” he said. “We’re so blessed that we were able to experience life together, to support each other through everything, good times and bad.”

Strait’s Number 1 hit, “I Cross My Heart” from his movie Pure Country is all about the kind of unconditional love he and Norma share.
