poor German Shepherd was abandoned and he ended up getting trapped in the LA river. He had been stuck there for weeks. The LA river is mostly a dry canal. The people from the community fed him while they searched for some sort of help.
This rescue was carried out by Eldad from Hope For Paws and Annie Hart from Bill Foundation. There was no access in or out of the river for miles and the rescuers were not prepared properly for such a situation. But thankfully the neighbors decided to help them so they gathered the required equipment.
A volunteer from the community helped to lower a cage into the river while Eldad sat in the riverbed trying to make Biggie comfortable with his presence. He fed him cheeseburgers, but the dog didn’t get too close at first. But pretty soon, he was enjoying a loving touch from Eldad and eating out of his hand. Biggie is so beautiful, and looked so sad. It just broke my heart. Who could abandon him?
Pretty soon, Biggie made it clear he wanted to go with Eldad. With help from volunteers from the community, they were able to secure Biggie and bring him to safety. Biggie went in the cage and didn’t even bark the enter time they lifted him out. I think he was ready to rescued. After a bath, he was ready to play with Eldad.
