What began as a typical day for Paul Ivory from Paso Country, Florida, was nothing but. On that fateful morning, while walking about his home, he discovered a massive sinkhole in his backyard.
Admittedly, he was concerned about not just his safety, but also that of his home. Speaking to WKRN reporters, the Florida man shared that he was surprised at the discovery.
Given that it happened overnight, it’s understandable that he was at a loss for words. That said, he managed to contact Pasco County Emergency Management, hoping that they will help him out.
The authorities wisely counseled him to keep a close eye on things until they could get an expert to his location. All this was welcome news to Paul Ivory, who was worried about the recent turn of events.
Notably, the fire department also showed up at his property. Making a point not to rush to conclusions, they put paint around the sinkhole region and notified Pual to call them if the sinkhole enlarges.
At present, Paul remains hopeful that the hole will not expand much. He fears that if it were to a certain level, he would have little option but to evacuate from his home.
While elected officials at Pasco County haven’t yet declared it a sinkhole, they still can’t explain why it happened in the first place.
