Happy the Sparrow is a very loyal and friendly pet. He will try whatever his best friend is eating or drinking. He loves to stay as close as he can to her.

The woman who owns Sparrow found him in May, over a year ago, pecking something on the street. He was about a day old, and had small injuries.

When she took him to the vet they said they had to euthanize him unless someone wanted to adopt him. She picked him up immediately. Her dog died two weeks after she adopted happy.

She was devastated but her new bird gave her purpose and joy. After a year of being together, he grew into a healthy bird that acts like a curious puppy.

He was not releasable because when he was a baby his beak was covered in a big scab that ate away at his top beak and sinuses. Legally she can keep him because he isn’t native to California.

Happy developed a technique where he would tilt his head sideways so he could eat. He found a way around his disability.
