Harvey & Carol Crack 'Em up Disguised as Members of the Audience!

A man in a suit smiles while seated, with a woman in a yellow hat and patterned dress beside him, both in a studio setting.

‘The Carol Burnett Show’ featured many inventive sketches over the years. In Season 6, Episode 7, Harvey and Carol appear in the audience, pretending to be audience members looking for their seats.

Harvey & Carol

At first, the audience doesn’t realize what is happening when Harvey enters the seating section frantically. When Carol follows behind, the audience realizes it is her and applauds.

Harvey sits on an aisle seat and tells Carol to sit behind him in the next row. After she sits, Carol leans forward and says to Harvey, “This joker’s getting fresh,” pointing to the audience member next to her.

Carol moves a few studio audience guests to new seats, eventually shifting the whole row as Carol keeps saying, “Move it over!” Finally, she gets to sit next to Harvey, saying, “Now, was that so difficult.” Harvey puts his arm around Carol, and she looks angry and says, “You animal.”

Harvey starts telling Carol about all the celebrities he saw when they were walking in. He rattles off names and says he even saw ‘Harvey Korman.’ Carol jests, saying, “I know him. He’s the one that’s always trying to be funnier than Carol.”

Carol starts choking on her popcorn, and Harvey tries to help, but she hits him away. Harvey settles and says, “Look at all those lights. I guess those are what make her so ravishing on the tube.”

They both complain about when the show is going to start. Harvey double-checks his tickets, and it turns out he thought he had tickets for Sonny and Cher but accidentally bought tickets to Carol Burnett’s Show. As they storm out of the theater, Carol comically exclaims, “I’d rather go see the La Brea Tar Pits!”
