Harvey Korman Breaks Character Thanks to Tim Conway's Hilarious Improv

A man in a brown jacket and sunglasses stands beside a security officer in a blue uniform.

'The Carol Burnett Show' was famous for its stars trying and often succeeding in making each other break character. In this sketch, Tim Conway gets Harvey Korman to lose his composure in the funniest ways.

Airline Security sketch from the Carol Burnett Show

The sketch, titled 'Airline Security,' stars Harvey Korman and Tim Conway in an airport. There is a line of people boarding their flights, and Korman is just in time for his.

Korman plays a filmmaker trying to get to LA to show his documentary that took him four years to create. Conway plays the security agent for Speedo Airlines.

After a short wait, Korman reaches the ticket desk, but Conway is no ordinary security officer. He has a stamp collection full of approvals that he needs to give out.

After stamping endlessly, we realize that Conway has been spelling out Los Angeles with the stamps, which makes no sense at all. Korman repeatedly asks him to hurry, telling him the plane is leaving shortly.

After stamping everything you can imagine on Korman's ticket, Conway tells him he needs to get into Korman's briefcase. Korman tells the security agent that he only has toiletries and his film in there. After ruining the key, Conway tries to break into the bag, using a saw and drill. Once in, he sees that Korman is telling the truth.

However, Conway bumps the shaving cream and, of course, as we all expected, ruins Korman's film. The sketch ends with a briefcase full of foam and Conway stamping everything in sight.
