This Haunting Last Recording From Merle Haggard Is Sure to Leave You Breathless!

Merle Haggard's album cover, "Kern River Blues," features a sepia-toned image of him wearing a hat.

Merle Haggard passed away from complications due to a long battle with double pneumonia, but in the time leading up to his passing he didn’t slow down a bit. All he wanted to do was create as much music as possible in the days he had left, and that’s exactly what he did.

The collection of Haggard’s recorded works seems almost endless, but he wasn’t satisfied with what he’d already accomplished. He stayed hard at work recording as much as possible, creating a collection which he dubbed “The Archive”.

There are no release dates set for this vast collection of music, but we’re sure we’ll see these tracks topping charts whenever his family decides it is time to get them out into the world.

Haggard’s family has made one notable exception to the lack of releases from the Archive. Not long after Haggard’s passing, they chose to release the very last song he’d recorded, “Kern River Blues”. It’s a beautiful send off for a legendary artist.
