John Fogerty is a classic rock superstar. His solo career has been a success, along with his incredible run in ‘Creedence Clearwater Revival.’ John’s concerts are filled with hit songs, and this performance of ‘Have You Ever Seen the Rain?’ is phenomenal.
Stepping out onto a long stage extension, John appears dressed in an all-black suit. He begins to strum his guitar to the signature rhythm of the song’s opening. The audience roars because they instantly recognize the tune.
John starts on verse 1 sounding just as good as he did in 1971 when the song was released. This time, he is joined by a full backing orchestra, and they add a lush string part to the music that elevates the overall performance.
Once verse 2 starts, John stops strumming and grabs the microphone to walk around the stage extension. The audience sings out on the section that has become theirs over the years.
Every lyric ‘I know’ is sung by the crowd as John encourages them by pointing the mic their way. It has become a tradition to sing that section with John on this song.
John was one of the founders of ‘Creedence Clearwater Revival,’ which had nine top-10 singles and eight gold albums from 1968 to 1972. ‘CCR’ was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. John continued his career with solo success and landed on ‘Rolling Stone’ magazine’s list of 100 greatest songwriters at number 40.
John has performed the song countless times before, but this version is epic. The song sounds bigger than ever between the soaring strings and the large crowd of fans singing along like a giant chorus!
