As you’ll see in a moment, It’s not for no reason that Beagles are so popular and so well-loved. They were originally bred for hunting rabbits and as a result, beagles are highly intelligent yet single-minded. In more recent times, their amazingly acute sense of smell has earned beagles employment as sniffer dogs for various nations’ customs services. Another reason beagles are well-suited to this role is their small size, pleasant demeanor, and non-threatening appearance. This is also why they make for excellent therapy dogs.
When meeting a new person, a beagle might be a little standoffish but these naturally friendly dogs are quickly won over. This makes them the world’s worst guard dogs! Because they’re so gentle, amiable and even “merry,” beagles are a perfect choice of family pet. In particular, they get along wonderfully with children.
This brings us to a beagle named Charlie. When his human parents brought their new baby girl Laura home, the first thing they did was introduce her to Charlie. And what did this beagle think of the newest addition to the pack? He loved her immediately! In fact, this clever and devoted dog has taken on an amazing array of useful tasks. “We taught our dog how to play keyboard, how to change traffic lights and how to swing a baby crib, but we never had to teach him how to love our daughter. Now they are best friends. Thank you Charlie for making her smile every day.”
Charlie really did love Laura from day one. As you’ll see in the video we’ve posted below, he’s an expert at gently playing with his new human friend. Best of all, you can see how much they’re enjoying spending time with each other.
