Bike clubs have a rough reputation. Especially after a certain cable TV show that aired recently. Hint: Its initials are “SOA.” If that show were true, then all these bikers would just be shooting each other or inciting all other kinds of violence. That’s not true. Yes, there are some bad chapters out there, but they are dwarfed by the ones that do good. Like this Hells Angels club in California.
We see these bikers at a Walmart in California for Black Friday. They’ve stood in line at this place for days on end. Their goal? Buy up all the bikes there and take them over to the Poverello House in Fresno. The kids there will get a bike to ride and it will make their day. These are bicycles, by the way. Not motorcycles. That would just be plain dangerous. But it shows these massive men with multiple tattoos aren’t a menace.
They have been doing this since 1998 and it looks like they will continue to do it for as long as they possibly can. This is definitely a change from the image of the hard-charging biker who will start a fight with anyone in their path. I would still advise to stay away from even touching their motorcycles. They are really touchy about that. But this puts a better light on them and I hope that it continues.
I’d love to see the look on the kids’ faces when they get these bikes and start riding around on them. This is just a bunch of men who want to brighten up the days of kids who have had a rough time of it in life. That’s a noble goal and it would serve us well to try to follow their example. I would suggest letting them move ahead of you in line though – standing outside for all that time might have made them cranky.
This video went a long way toward dispelling the myth of the law-breaking biker club. They may beat to their own drum, but many of them are good at heart.
