Humans adopt babies every day, but we’re not the only species that adopts. Think about it. We don’t just adopt children, after all; we also adopt all kinds of animals as pets. Well, animals adopt too, and like us, they adopt species who are different from them.
I firmly believe that dogs, cats, and other non-human animals are emotional creatures with empathy and instincts to nurture, and that’s why many animal moms adopt babies who are not of their own bloodline, or even of their own species.
Here, we meet an incredible mother cat who just gave birth to a bunch of adorable tiny kittens. The animal workers decided that this would be an opportune time to introduce yet another baby into the mix, which was an even tinier baby squirrel who had no mother at all. This tiny squirrel was an orphan who needed love and care! We don’t know what happened to his mother, but he was lucky enough to be found that day by caring people who found him a mom.
And guess what? Within seconds, Mama takes to the squirrel as if it were her very own, licking, nursing and accepting it into her new family. What an awesome mother! It’s wonderful to watch them together.
