Honest 11-year old returns lost wallet despite his family’s financial woes

A heartwarming tale unfolded after an 11-year-old found and returned a lost wallet to its rightful owner. Vince Hieptas and his father Lorenzo were walking In Voyager Park in Wisconsin when they discovered the wallet.

Chase Dahlke had gone fishing in the same park on Memorial Day when he lost his wallet. Lucky for him, this honest boy was the first to discover the wallet that same day. They tracked the owner through the address displayed on his driver’s license card.

Chase Dahlke thought he would never see his wallet again until a young boy showed up on his doorstep. Chase was dumbstruck and unprepared. He thanked the boy and gave him all the money he had in his wallet- which was two dollars.

The Dahlke’s were humbled and wanted to do more to show their gratitude. Sadly, Chase was too overwhelmed to get the boy’s name and contact details during his surprise visit. They decided to involve the community to help identify this mysterious young hero.

Luckily, the Dahlkes could use the doorbell video from their front door to capture a photo of the boy they then circulated on social media. The responses were resounding, and soon they identified the boy.

They also learned that Lorenzo, the boy’s father, was a COVID survivor and could not return to work at the meatpacking plant. With the community’s help, the Dahlkes raised $11,425 through crowdfunding to support the family during these trying times.

‘The dad had COVID and was out of work. This family still gave the wallet back even though they have nothing!’ Michelle Dahlke said on the crowdfunding page. The boy’s actions were rewarded in the end, and they reminded the entire community that there are still good people in the world.
