The superstar was born on July 24, 1951, in Arizona, and was on state singing by age five! She joined her first band, Just Us when she was only fourteen years old, and they played at the local Pizza Hut four times a week.

But that was only the beginning; it was soon quite clear that Lynda was incredibly talented, and she spent the 60s on tour as a singer in different moderately successful bands.

In 1972, Lynda won the Miss World pageant by representing Arizona, and her confidence and recognition grew. She headed to Low Angeles to pursue her career in entertainment, and it only took her four years to land the role of a lifetime!

She was cast as Diana Prince, aka Wonder Woman, on ABC’s hit show Wonder Woman.

Until she became everyone’s favorite superhero, Carter caught a few breaks in part-time roles on Starsky and Hutch and other television programs. Still, she was pretty close to giving up her Hollywood dream in 1974.

She even told reporters that she only had $25 in her bank account when she landed the role of Wonder Woman and was essentially packed to return to Arizona!

While she was filming Wonder Woman for the next four years, she was also recording her first solo album: Portrait. She even sang one of her songs in the show’s third season.

Over the next decade, Carter’s music career was in full swing, and she was performing in sold-out arenas and on stage on popular television programs. She worked with some of the best in the industry, including Michael Jackson, Kenny Rogers, Bob Hope, and Ray Charles.
