Husband and wife duo bring you a Merry Little Christmas

“Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” was written by Hugh Martin and Ralph Blaine for the 1944 MGM musical “Meet Me in St. Louis” and introduced to the world by Judy Garland. The Decca record company released it as a single and it was especially popular with American soldiers serving overseas. Garland’s performance of the song at the Hollywood Canteen literally brought the tough soldiers in the audience to tears! Frank Sinatra made his own memorable recording of the song in 1957 and many other artists have followed suit: Bing Crosby, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, James Taylor, and Luther Vandross, to name a few.

Add “Us the Duo” to that list of illustrious names. Husband-and-wife team Michael and Carissa Alvarado have always been devoted to music. They met on the set of a music video in 2011 and married the next year. In 2013 they started posting their covers of popular songs on the internet, attracted millions of followers, and signed with a record label. They sing from the heart: as Carissa says, “That’s all we really know how to do. We’ve written so many songs about our relationship, and about love.”

In 2017, Us the Duo released “Our Favorite Time of Year,” their first Christmas album. Their rendition of “Have Yourself a Merry Christmas” is not to be missed! We’ve posted the music video for you below. The music plays against the backdrop of Carissa and Michael enjoying some classic Christmastime activities. They’re decorating the tree in a festively decorated living room, warmed by the fireplace. Outdoors, they climb and frolic on a snowy mountain, go ice skating, and set out on a sleigh ride. If the music and imagery don’t put you in a seasonal mood, nothing will!
