‘I Love Lucy’ is one of the biggest TV shows in American history. It was the most-watched show in the U.S. for four of its six seasons, running from 1951 through 1957.

The show starred Lucille Ball and her husband, Desi Arnaz. Their apartment was the setting for many scenes in the show. Thanks to technology, viewers can now see the apartment through a virtual tour.
The Ricardos had two apartments, and there is an easy way to tell the difference. In their first apartment, there is no window in the living room, but in their second apartment, there is a big window on the back wall.

The living room has a table and two chairs that would show up from time to time. They used these in the living room when guests ate with them. The coffee table also had a nifty feature. It could lower or rise to fit the needs of the scene.
The first apartment had a kitchen the actors had to step into. The reason was that Desi wanted a real kitchen on the set. The set designers would have had to tear up the floor and put in pipes and electricity, which would be too time-consuming. So the solution was to make a six-inch step that the pipes went under. The kitchen had an island, but the second apartment had a table instead.

The bedroom featured twin beds that were recessed into the wall. The show had to have twin beds due to the censorship in the 50s. The window is on the side of the room in the first apartment, but the second apartment has a door there for the bathroom.
There is a mini-replica of the set that the show was filmed on at Universal Studios in Florida. There’s even an ‘I Love Lucy’ museum in Jamestown, New York. Fans can’t get enough of this beloved show, and this virtual tour gives a great glimpse inside the home of the Ricardos.
