‘Idol’ Singer Impresses With Swoon-Worthy Sam Cooke Cover

“18-Year- Old, Layne Hardy excites judges and audience with his cover of Sam Cooke’s 1962 hit “Bring it on Home to Me.”

Livingston Louisiana native, Layne Hardy, has a soulful yet rockabilly sound that was made famous by musicians like Elvis Presley, Sam Cooke, and Buddy Holly back in the 1950s and 60s. Although he is young and never had the opportunity to witness the performances of these iconic stars, Hardy fits in perfectly with that genre of music.

Layne has said that he got his inspiration from Elvis Presley as a young child and has continued that sound throughout his musical career. Although Elvis is his inspiration, the music that he emulates spectacularly is a combination of all the big stars from that era.

Hardy’s vocals have an enormous range, and his stage presence is flawless. His dance moves and facial expressions are priceless as well as his amazing guitar skills. Layne is an articulate and professional musician that has grown tremendously over the past few years.

Layne was flawless as he never missed a note and meshed perfectly with his back singers and band members. The lighting brought out his crystal clear olive complexion and his smile resonated.

As with any performance, the choice of attire is essential to the feel of the overall performance. Layne regularly wears jackets that are fashionable today but simulate those worn by artists in the 60s.

Layne had audience members clapping along with his cover of this great hit, and the judges were amazed. Katy Perry, as well as Lionel Richie, are so impressed that they attempted to impersonate Hardy’s dance moves.

Sam Cooke was a famous “Soul” singer in the ’50s and ’60s and was even labeled “The King of Soul” by those in the music industry. In 1962 he released one of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll, “Bring it on Home to Me.”

This long-lasting hit has been covered by many high profile singers over the years and was even sung by Mandy Moore on the hit Drama “This is Us.” Cooke went on to be an entrepreneur by starting his own record label and also participated in the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.”
