The dancers are surrounded on the gym floor by a crowd who claps along, shouting with excitement at the dance moves on display. Sondre wears a gray suit with his hair slicked back, and Tanya wears a bright yellow shirt and a 50s-style navy blue skirt.

Their hands are interlocked, and they kick their feet in perfect synchronization. It is easy to see that these two have been practicing this routine. Every twist and turn is matched with one another. One wrong step and the dance would fall apart.

Sondre spins Tanya multiple times, and he’s not afraid to get down low with some crazy moves of his own. There are plenty of quick motions where the two partners must work together to coordinate their actions.

‘Rock Around the Clock’ by ‘Bill Haley and His Comets,’ is widely considered to be the song that introduced rock n’ roll to mainstream America and the world. It remained at number one for two months in 1954.

Swing dancing

Swing dancing developed in the 1920s through the 1940s. Popular dances include the ‘Lindy Hop,’ ‘Balboa,’ and the ‘Charleston.’ Another famous swing dance is the ‘Jitterbug.’ These dances evolved to fit the boogie-woogie beats and rock and roll music of the 50s.

The exceptional dancing couple, Sondre and Tanya, end the dance with a quick twist. Then, Tanya hops into Sondre’s arms, and they both smile as the people clap for them.
