Nobody is ever likely to come out on top when it comes to the differences between men and women in a relationship, so the best thing to do is recognize that we might never truly see eye to eye and have some fun with it. That’s exactly what this comedian was doing when he performed his own lyrics set to the Green Day classic – “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).”

His parody versions became a big hit on YouTube where he first found fame, and in this number, he turns his attention to the trials and tribulations of married life. Namely – what you shouldn’t ever say to your wife. The audience and the internet are in stitches!
The original music and lyrics by punk superstars Green Day is widely regarded to be about a relationship breaking down, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen if you decide to say any of the things in Tim Hawkins version to your wife! From making jokes about weight to her lame choice of shoes, or telling her to be quiet while you’re trying to watch the game, Hawkins rattles through all the clichés of men versus women in matrimony. It’s funny – because it’s true!
The clip has been viewed nearly 5 million times on YouTube, probably by a lot of disgruntled husbands looking for some solidarity! All joking aside, it’s nice that we can poke fun at inter-marital squabbles, and we’re sure that there are plenty more versions from a female perspective too! It goes both ways folks, that’s for sure!
One particular YouTuber’s comment is causing something of a stir though, as they often do when there’s divided opinion on a public forum. The trolls can come out to play. Judge for yourself if this contribution is for real. “This song is the reason I got divorced. My ex did not appreciate this when I played it on her birthday.”
Now we think that should be taken with tongue firmly in cheek, but you never know, do you? Especially when you listen to the lyrics of Tim’s version, it seems much more of a cautionary tale and should be taken in good humour! But to plagiarise one reply; “women should laugh – and those are the ones you want to be with.” We couldn’t agree more!
