Jack Russell terrier plans to stay up all night so he can see Santa Claus

Getting ready for Christmas can be a lot of work: putting up decorations, stringing lights, decorating the tree, shopping, hanging the stockings with care, and much more. When it’s finally Christmas Eve — and you have small children in the house — it’s time to leave out a glass of milk and plate of cookies for the Jolly Old Elf and of course some carrots for the reindeer. It’s the least you can do for someone who circles the globe delivering presents! Around bedtime, any small children in the house will start talking big: “I’m gonna stay up all night and see Santa!” Knowing glances exchanged by parents say it all: “Yeah, right! You won’t even make it past midnight!”

Christmas isn’t just for people. There’s nothing to stop dogs from getting in on the fun, too. In the video posted below, you’ll see an adorable little Jack Russell Terrier who, like an eager child, is determined to catch a glimpse of Santa Claus. He’s going to stay up as late as necessary! This Christmas-minded canine hangs his stocking nicely on his doghouse and of course, he puts out a glass of milk and plate of cookies. Now it’s time to wait.

While dogs can be astonishingly disciplined animals, their patience does have limits. The Jack Russell in this video lies down, pretending to sleep, but soon gets up to stretch his legs. When he returns to his doghouse, he can’t resist scarfing down one of the cookies. Santa is going to be given millions of cookies; he won’t miss one, right? Despite his determination to stay up, the dog of course nods off to sleep. Maybe it was that cookie. Naturally, this is when Santa shows up to drop off a present. Well, at least the dog will be happy when he sees it in the morning.
