Some believe that boys and their toys are inseparable, no matter their age. In this video, Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon review toys for Christmas, and this ends with shots being fired in the studio.
Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show was known for tickling the funny bone. Whether it was a bid, an interview, or a product review, he somehow managed to bring laughter to every occasion.
In this video, Johnny and Ed stand in front of a table with various toys available for purchase and could be potential Christmas gifts for kids. The first toy they try ends up causing a fight between the two.

The toy consists of a plastic figurine, a ball, and a basketball hoop. The plastic could be moved around and, with the press of the button, fires the basketball in the air. Johnny tries to get it in the hoop but fails twice.
Ed gets closer and is confident that he will be able to sink it. Johnny does not react kindly to Ed, insisting on playing with the toy. Just like a spoiled child, Johnny stands back and eagerly waits for Ed to fail.
After giving up, Johnny introduces the following toy; a miniature replica of an 1898 signal cannon. This toy actually fires half-load shotgun shells but doesn’t stop the pair from trying it out in the studio.
‘Don’t touch my lanyard,’ Johnny grunts at Ed. He fires the first round but decides that it isn’t good enough. He loads a full-load shell into the cannon, and the plot twists with hilarious consequences. David Michael commented online: ‘Hearing Ed McMahon laugh was as funny as the stuff Carson was saying and doing!’
