America’s Got Talent has a habit of delivering totally unexpected moments, especially when it comes to judging books by their covers! The show has now been running for over 10 years, and in that time, they’ve given us some extremely memorable and entertaining television. Many acts have stood on that stage with the audience and judges perplexed, and then they have gone on to wow everyone with their talent. These guys are no exception here.
When they first walk out onto the stage, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s a joke. Friends Caleb, Tyler and Will certainly don’t look like your archetypal pop stars, and one of them is even carrying a crutch! Each judge has a confused and perplexed look on their faces, not least when the boys tell them they’re a singing group called “Triple Threat!”
You can almost hear the scoffs coming from the audience as the lads continue to tell their story. They met when they were all injured from playing American Football at school at the same time and this continues to amuse the watching crowd as judge Mel B asks them what their dream is. “We want to make a career out of this and we think we can do it,” comes the reply. Eyes roll and nobody in the room is buying it – until they start to sing.
The smirks and smiles around the audience are suddenly wiped away and replaced with drops of the jaw, as these guys sing a harmonised, jazzy version of MTKO’s “Classic.” The judges are in awe as the 21-year-olds absolutely nail the tune, while clearly having a lot of fun doing it. They knew exactly what they were doing and who’s laughing now eh?! Many commenters on the YouTube video are calling it the human version of Alvin and the Chipmunks!
These three ‘nerdy’ looking guys blow the audience and the judges away with their number, and who’s to bet they’re not going to go on to conquer the world? They seem super likeable too, and it just goes to show that you should never judge a book by its cover! Surely, America’s Got Talent has taught us that down the years?!
